Today is my birthday. The beginning of another trip around the sun. It’s a day like any other day, and yet it isn’t. For me, birthdays are days of celebration. Look at all the wonderful things God has done for me, and all the amazing people he has put into my life. I am so thankful to have shared more than half of it with my beautiful bride Susan. It is a time to laugh with friends and family about the fun things that have happened and the stupid things I’ve done and still survived. It is also a time of looking forward….what can I do next?! I know there aren’t any guarantees about how long I’ll be in this life, but I use 100 years for planning purposes. With that guide, I’m only a little over half done! I’ve got a lot to do-it is exciting. I enjoy thinking about the new, fun things I’m going to experience. The successes and failures I’m going to have. The wonderful people I’m going to meet. Every year (every day) is a chance to do things you’ve never done before. Try new stuff and don’t be afraid of it. If I haven’t met you yet, I hope I do this year. If not, maybe next. Have a piece of cake or a beer (make it a good one) to celebrate with me. May every year be the best one you’ve ever had. I can do this.
