This saying has been around for a long, long time. While it may be true, it’s good to really think about what it is saying. I think it is more accurate to say “An Opportunity Knocks but Once.” When an opportunity comes your way, you can say ‘yes’ or you can say ‘no’. If you say ‘yes’, then off you go, seeing how good the opportunity was. The saying suggests that if you say ‘no’, or aren’t ready for it, then that’s it. That’s not it. Perhaps that opportunity is gone, but there are ALWAYS more opportunities. They may lead you to a different one that the previous, but they are there. Life is full of opportunities, one after another. Some are big and some are small. Some appear small but are actually the biggest ones you might make. Every morning you have the opportunity to decide how you’re going to approach today. Don’t dwell on things you’ve missed. Find out what is next for you, and consider that. Don’t miss the next one because you’re still feeling bad about the previous one. What’s next for you? You can do this.
