This simple phrase has meant a lot to me over the years. It is part of a song by Billy Sprague called “Press On”.

The line is “Some days I found faith meant just tyin’ my shoes”. There were days that was a difficult task….just tyin’ my shoes. There were days so dark that just the thought of tyin’ my shoes brought tears to my eyes. But it was just simple enough to try. And that brought me my first success of the day.

We’ve all had days when it feels like the whole world is on our shoulders. No one understands and we have no energy to do anything about it.

But even when we don’t feel like it, there is hope. And ‘tyin’ your shoes’ is the first step in moving forward. It can be your first success of the day. Perhaps today will be the day some of the load gets lightened. It might be tomorrow. Either way, tie your shoes and take those steps knowing full well, IT WILL GET BETTER.

You can do this.
